All regional forms

Regional forms are alternate versions of familiar Pokémon, adapted to a new environment. They usually have different types, a different look, and sometimes their own evolutionary line. They debuted in Generation VII and have been a tradition ever since.

Alolan forms (Gen VII — Sun/Moon)

Alola's tropical climate reshaped several Kanto Pokémon:

• Alolan Raichu: Electric/Psychic, surfing on a board made from its own tail.
• Alolan Vulpix and Ninetales: turned Ice (and Ninetales, Ice/Fairy) because of the snowy mountains.
• Alolan Exeggutor: Grass/Dragon, with an absurdly long neck — one of the most iconic looks in the series.
• Alolan Marowak: Fire/Ghost, tied to local rituals.

Galarian forms (Gen VIII — Sword/Shield)

Inspired by Great Britain:

• Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash: Psychic (Rapidash, Psychic/Fairy), with an enchanted-forest aesthetic.
• Galarian Weezing: Poison/Fairy; it "filters" polluted air and releases clean air.
• Galarian Corsola: Ghost, a reef killed by climate change, evolving into the new Cursola.
• Galarian Meowth: Steel, evolving into Perrserker.

Hisuian forms (Gen VIII — Legends: Arceus)

Hisui is ancient Sinnoh. The forms reflect a wilder era:

• Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine: Fire/Rock.
• Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark: Normal/Ghost.
• Hisuian Typhlosion, Samurott and Decidueye: starters from other generations gained secondary types (Ghost, Dark and Fighting respectively).

Paldean forms (Gen IX — Scarlet/Violet)

• Paldean Wooper: Poison/Ground, evolving into the new Clodsire.
• Paldean Tauros: three variants — Fighting, Fighting/Fire and Fighting/Water.
